Practice also your pronunciation and read the dialogues out loud two or three times. Then do the exercises.

 Listen

Peter calls his brother who works for an insurance company.

Diana: Hello, you have reached ABC Insurance. This is Diana speaking. How can I help you?

Peter: Hello, could I speak to Paul Smith, please?

Diana: Certainly, could I have your name, please?

Peter: It’s Peter Smith.

Diana: Just a moment, I’ll see if he is in. Thank you for holding, I’m afraid Mr. Smith is out of the office right now. Would you like to leave a message?

Peter: No, thank you. I’ll call him again later.

A few minutes later Amanda calls her dentist.

Michelle: Dr. Williams’ office. Michelle speaking. How can I help you?

Amanda: Hi Michelle. This is Amanda Smith calling. How are you today?

Michelle: Hello Amanda. I’m fine, thank you. What about you?

Amanda: Well, actually, my son has a sore tooth. Could Dr. Williams see him this week?

Michelle: One moment, I’ll check his schedule. Dr. Williams can see your son tomorrow in the morning. How about nine o’clock?

Amanda: Yes, nine o’clock is fine.

Michelle: Great, I’ll see you tomorrow in the morning then.

Amanda: Thank you. See you tomorrow. Bye.
