Dialog

Listen

Jenny begins to tell the story of her brother, the boy howling in the woods because he lost his tree house. It is a sad story that happens in the past.

Jenny: My brother Tony had been a very quiet boy. He had liked his little tree house and he had spent most of his days up there. It had been a peaceful get-away for him. He had never been happy at school or in the city. So he had built this small tree house in the forest all by himself. He had put pictures on the walls, he had painted it brown and he had locked the door every night. He hadn’t wanted any visitors! I had never been there. His friends hadn’t ever visited him in the tree house. It had been a very big secret.

Then one day, he had decided to read a book by candlelight. He had always hated electricity because it had been bad for the environment. He had liked the candlelight and the soft glow of its light. It hadn’t been the easiest light to read by but he had loved it.

The next day, he had realized that there was too little light. He had needed more light. Well, he had thought about building a fire. It had been a very stupid idea. Long story short: he had made the fire, had lit the match and the flames had begun to spread. His beloved tree
house had burned down. After that incident, his love for the forest grew. He hikes there every day and howls like a wolf. I guess he is one lone wolf and always has been.

Pluskvamperfektiä käytetään kun halutaan ilmaista mitä oli tapahtunut: I had eaten ice-cream.
