Dialog

Listen

Jenny has introduced Craig to her home farm and the forest. She has told the story of her brother who had set fire to his tree house. It is now time to go to Jenny’s little summer cottage near a lake. It is on the farm. They reach the summer cottage after going down a hill. Craig is surprised!

Craig: You are right. It is so much nicer here than in the city! Although it is close to everything, here in the countryside I feel free! I love this little house, is it yours?

Jenny: Actually, my parents are half-Finns! In Finland almost everyone owns a little summer cottage by a lake. Or if they don’t have one, they might rent one for the summer. They go there to swim, have a sauna and relax. This is why my parents decided to build a summer cottage right here. I love it!

Craig: Wow! I didn’t know that! Do you come here often?

Jenny: Yes, I do. That little garden back there is actually mine! I take care of it. And all those flowers are mine too. I planted them and water them. There is a small room with a sofa bed in the cottage. Sometimes I sleep there.

Craig: It is really beautiful. Is it hot in the sauna?

Jenny: Of course it is! Do you want to try it?

Jenny takes Craig to the sauna. They sit in a very hot room and when it gets too hot, they go for a swim in the lake. It is a beautiful summer day and the water is cool. After the sauna, it is time to go home.

Jenny: Thank you for coming! It has been a wonderful day!

Craig: Thank you for having me! This is a beautiful farm and it has interesting stories. Should we meet tomorrow and discuss our day?

Jenny: Yes, let’s do that! I will send you an email today, I just remembered this article about ecotourism that you should read.

Craig: Great! See you tomorrow!

Craig goes home to his small studio in the city. He had spent a good day that left him with lots of thoughts. He sits down and suddenly remembers reading an article about a beach that is similar to Jenny’s. He finds the article. Click the link and read it too!
