Lesson 6: An active day

Read and listen to the dialog between Emily and Ryan. Study the vocabulary list below and read the dialog out loud a few times. Then do the exercises. (Lue ja kuuntele Emilyn ja Ryanin dialogi. Käy läpi sanalista ja lue dialogi ääneen muutamia kertoja. Tee sitten tehtävät.)

An active day – Text

Listen

It’s seven o’clock in the evening. Ryan and Emily sit in the living room and talk about their days over dinner.

Emily: How was your day? You told me yesterday that you had plans to exercise in the morning.

Ryan: It was great. I went to the gym at half past eight in the morning and worked out with a personal trainer. We ran on a treadmill to warm up and then lifted weights. I even stretched at the end of the workout. The personal trainer told me I will have to exercise regularly and eat healthier if I want to keep in shape. We will meet again tomorrow morning at a quarter to nine to talk about my workout program.

Emily: I had an active day, too. I decided to cycle to work and arrived at twenty to nine! If I had taken the bus, I would have arrived half an hour later at ten past nine. After work I met Jenny. We wanted to play tennis but the tennis court in the center was fully booked. It is open only on weekdays from 11am until 4pm.

Ryan: The sports center I just joined has outdoor courts. If you want, I will call them and book a court for us for tomorrow. What time is it now?

Emily: That would be great. It’s a quarter past seven.

Ryan: The reception closes at half past seven so I should call them right away.
