In this lesson you will learn some vocabulary related to theatre and street art, visit some websites and find out how to get tickets to events, talk about art and culture as a hobby and take a look at two Finnish cities.

Visit the websites of the famous houses and centers listed below. Find out what is playing and who is performing or showing now or in the near future. Pick one event / show / play / exhibition to see or visit. Find out how you can get some tickets and what they cost. State the reasons for your choice. In addition, does the place offer anything to listen to or watch online for free?

Exercise 7.2

Cultural Interests

Do you have music, theater, or some other form of art as a hobby or are you possibly an artist yourself?
If yes, write a short biography of yourself as an artist. Give some background information of yourself, describe what you do and what your current activities are. You can also list your accomplishments and present some examples of your work. 
If not, find out what kind of possibilities your hometown or nearby towns offer to someone who is interested in having some form of art as a hobby and write a list of those in English.

Art and Design in the City

Turku was chosen as the European Capital of Culture 2011 and Helsinki was designated as the World Design Capital 2012.
What is that about? Please explain in your own words. Start with a visit to the websites and then submit your written answer below. The length of your text should be about 100 words.
